More than 100 children are now being read to from a BoekjesAtelier book
Four months after our official start, more than 100 children are already being read to from a BoekjesAtelier book. Here is what customers told us and how we keep improving.

Four months ago, we officially launched BoekjesAtelier. The idea was clear: create a personal children’s book that goes beyond simply putting a name on the cover. A book in which a child truly takes centre stage, with a recognizable character, their own story, and a visual style that fits them.
By now, more than 100 children are already being read to from a BoekjesAtelier book. We are very proud of that. Not only because of the number, but especially because of the reactions we have received.
We are not sharing this to persuade a huge audience, but to show honestly how the books are received in real families and how we respond when something can be better.
What customers say about their books
Over the past few months, customers have sent us many kind messages. For example:
“And he really did shed a few tears over it — he thought it was so beautiful.”
Another customer wrote:
“First of all, thank you so much for the beautiful book! My husband and son are very happy with it and love reading it together.”
We also received lovely feedback about making the book itself:
“The images turned out beautifully and I could adjust them to my wishes. I found the online tool very easy to use.”
And someone making a Father’s Day book emailed:
“I’m really excited about how it’s turning out. The UI is simply amazing, it’s super fun, and I love how the characters are generated.”
We keep improving — because every book is personal
Those reactions mean a lot to us. They show exactly why we started BoekjesAtelier: to make personal children’s books that are lovely to give, fun to create, and special to read together.
At the same time, we know there is always room to improve. Especially because we work with AI, we think it is important to stay careful. AI makes it possible to create every book uniquely, but a small inconsistency can sometimes appear in an image or detail.
With some providers, the customer is entirely responsible for checking the result. If there is a mistake in the book, that is simply your problem. We want to do things differently. That is why we have added an extra review step behind the scenes. If an order may still contain something that is not quite right, we receive a notification. We also perform our own quality-control check before a book goes to the printer.
- You see an online preview before placing an order.
- Potential problems in an order can be reviewed internally.
- We keep human review alongside AI generation.

Customer feedback becomes part of the product
We have also made improvements based on feedback over the past few months. We renewed our homepage and made it easier to use. After a customer pointed something out, we also increased the image resolution, so details are easier to view on mobile.
The way you create a book keeps evolving too. Read more about an earlier product improvement that came from listening in exactly this way: New features: a sidekick and a smoother flow
Trust is something you keep earning
That is how we want BoekjesAtelier to grow: by listening carefully, continuing to improve, and making better books over time. To us, trust is not only about a beautiful final result, but also about clear choices throughout the process.
That is why we also write openly about how we handle children’s photos and personal data. In our article about building with security from day one, we explain the choices behind that: Why We Build With Security From Day One
And in the story of how BoekjesAtelier began, you can read why this platform is personal to us: Where It All Began: The Adventures of Pim
On Trustpilot too: enthusiastic and honest
At the time of writing, there are four reviews on Trustpilot, with a score of 3.9. That is not a large dataset, and we do not pretend that it is. We see the reviews mainly as an honest snapshot of what people value and what we need to keep improving. We use this feedback not only as a compliment, but also as input for our quality checks and product improvements. See all Trustpilot reviews: all Trustpilot reviews
