Inspiration

With BoekjesAtelier you create a personal book in a few steps. You start with a photo of your child and then choose the style and the story. On this page we show what's possible with plenty of examples.

1

Step 1: Start with a photo of your child

Upload a photo of your child, enter the name and optionally pick the gender. With that we create a main character that truly resembles your child.

  • A clear photo in which your child is clearly visible
  • Your child's name
  • Optional: the gender

Based on the photo we sometimes already suggest a theme as a starting point.

2

Step 2: Choose the style, the story and an optional sidekick

In the story step you set the mood and the story. For the style you can upload an inspiration photo — such as a birth announcement, nursery or stuffed animal — or pick a predefined theme. You also decide on the story elements yourself:

  • A sidekick: a second character such as a brother, sister, grandpa, grandma, pet or stuffed animal
  • Hobbies of the child
  • Name of a stuffed animal
  • Hobbies of the parents
  • Holiday country
  • A deeper message (friendship, courage, perseverance)
  • What kind of story you want (adventurous, exciting, sweet, dreamy, etc.)

If you leave the story elements empty, we'll come up with a fun story ourselves.

Step 3: Review your book and adjust it

You stay in control. We prepare a first version of the complete book, then you review everything in a preview and keep adjusting until it's exactly right.

  • Pick the main character yourself from several variants
  • Review the cover, title page and all illustrations
  • Not happy? Have the text or an illustration redone, or pick a different cover
  • Steer illustrations with your own feedback
  • Only order once you're completely happy — as a premium hardcover

Nothing is set in stone: you stay in charge of the final result.
