The Most Fun Personalized Newborn Gifts
Looking for an original newborn gift? These are our favorite personalized newborn gifts, including practical tips and links.

Yes, the moment has finally arrived: you are visiting a newborn baby. And you do not want to show up empty-handed.
Personally, my favorite newborn gifts have always been the ones you can tell were chosen with real thought. Something personal, something lasting. So below I am sharing six personal ideas: three gifts we have enjoyed ourselves and three other options for when you want something different.

1. A personalized children’s book
We made a personalized read-aloud book for our son where he plays the main role. With a character that really looks like him and a story containing familiar details from his own world.
To this day, it is still his favorite little book. He regularly grabs it himself and “reads” it from start to finish.
That is what I love about a book as a newborn gift: it does not just sit on a shelf, but grows into a reading moment.
You can also make the book really fit the child and family, for example with:
- a photo of the child, so the main character is recognizable;
- family members, pets, or a favorite cuddly toy that can play a part;
- your own story idea or small details from the family’s daily life.
Have the parents put a lot of care into the birth announcement? Its colours, illustrations, and atmosphere can also become the starting point for the book. See how to turn a birth announcement into a personalized children’s book: From Birth Announcement to Personalized Children's Book

2. A teddy bear with name and birth date
A classic, but personal. A name or birth date makes a teddy bear immediately recognizable without needing to know much about the family.
Extra tip: order from a local maker. We have had good experiences with Gentille in Houten, in the Utrecht region. They ship throughout the Netherlands: Gentille

3. A first photo book for the baby with family and friends
This was a real hit in our home. The photo book is regularly picked up to look at beloved family, friends, and pets. For very little ones, it also works as a lovely sensory book: Sophie the Giraffe first photo album

4. A wooden name puzzle
A wooden puzzle featuring the child’s name can first sit on a shelf in the nursery. Later, it becomes a toy that helps the child recognize their own name and its letters. Look for sturdy pieces with rounded edges and ask the parents which colours suit the room.
5. An embroidered hooded towel
A soft hooded towel with the baby’s name is personal and genuinely useful. A generous size is especially practical because it lasts longer than a small newborn version. Double-check the spelling before ordering, as embroidery usually cannot be changed afterwards.
6. A piece of jewellery for the parent
A newborn gift does not always have to be for the baby. A subtle necklace or bracelet with the child’s initial or birthstone is a personal gift for the mother or other parent. It works best when you know their taste; if in doubt, choose something small and timeless. Looking for something for the new mother’s first Mother’s Day? One more tip for the parents
And do not forget the parents themselves. From personal experience: a tray of lasagna or pasta sauce for the freezer is received at least as enthusiastically.
Is there already a big brother or sister at home? They often end up empty-handed during the visit, while a small present is exactly what lands well then.
